City Gardening Series

The City Gardening Series, sponsored by Chanticleer, is part of PHS’s Green City Strategy designed to enhance stewardship of Philadelphia’s green spaces.

We will offer classes on various city gardening topics:

• These classes help novice and experienced city gardeners to increase their gardening know-how.
• Community-based organizations and branch libraries of the Free Library of Philadelphia co-host these sessions in various Philadelphia neighborhoods.
• Through these classes, city gardeners who appreciate the benefits of urban greening get to know one another and share the pleasures of city gardening.
• As a result, more people in more neighborhoods will get on the gardening bandwagon so that Philadelphia becomes known as “the green city.”
